You are in a rowing boat on a river. It is a lovely warm sunny afternoon, the sky is blue with tiny fluffy clouds and the sun is shining high overhead on a slow, calm river.

The oars are in, and you are sitting up in the boat, looking forwards, just coasting, drifting along the slow-moving, calm river in your boat.

The boat is comfortable, and you can sit back now, and just look up at the clouds as the boat drifts.

The river current is taking the boat, with you in, slowly down the river with no effort at all.

And as the boat travels down the river, you find yourself relaxing deeper and deeper with each breath into a deeper and more relaxed trance state.

Breathing in. Breathing out.

Breathing in. Breathing out.

The sun is warm on your face, and the breeze cools your head and body as the boat drifts further down the river, and as you sink more deeply into trance.

On the banks there are trees, and you hear the breeze rustle the summer leaves in those trees, hear the birdsong in the branches.

The water makes little rippling sounds as your boat gently drifts along the river.

And all the time, you are going deeper and deeper into trance.

Breathing in. Breathing out.

Breathing in. Breathing out.

Breathing in. Breathing out.

You do not have a care in the world. All you care about is the relaxation, and the wish to let go even more and sink fully down into a deep, deep trance state.

And it’s something you do every time you breathe out. See what I mean now. Breathe in. Breathe out. Feel how much more relaxed you are even from a few seconds ago.

Let’s try that a few times, sinking even deeper into trance each time.

And now the river slows as it grows wide and the sea approaches. The boat also slows.

And so does your mind.

And now the boat drifts into the sea, and it is so calm, and there is hardly a ripple on the surface of the water.

Just as there is no disturbance in the surface of your mind.

And in this relaxed state, you are very deeply receptive to my instructions.

Receptive and very responsive.

No memory. No sensation. No perception of being.

No awareness of the passing of time.

Just warmth, and peace.

All the last of your tensions focusing on one small point in your forehead, the last of your thoughts, the very last bit of awareness,

in the centre of your forehead,

coming out now,

detaching,

floating free,

drifting off,

like a feather in a breeze,

a bubble,

a wisp of smoke,

drifting,

floating away,

gone,

totally gone,

and your body relaxed, empty, filled with light, warmth, love,

full of warm glow,

like lying in warm water,

letting it buoy up your body,

all that buoyancy,

floating in warm light

and you lave totally let go now.

All the way deep …

You realise how good it is?

All that tension, gone, and a blissful warm relaxation

like lying in a warm bath, the waters supporting your body weight

drifting

those thoughts and tensions cleared from your head

nothing but emptiness inside, filled with warmth and light and peace and love?

Feels wonderful, doesn’t it? To be totally relaxed now.
